Synchronicity or simply against the odds...

Posted on Apr 6th, 2007 by Meghan : Sea Gypsy Light Dancer Meghan
I always look for the connection...sometimes it's true synchronicity (without a doubt) and sometimes, well perhaps, just a probability in my favor.

But I've been trying to calculate the odds of this...

I had decided to rent out my house for the next year in order to travel along the coastal states (specifically Florida, Annapolis, and San Diego/San Francisco) month-to-month and spend time developing sales contacts and being closer to my customers. I found a real estate agent who had a listing in my area on rentclicks and decided to contact her about my options. We met...and when I told her what I was doing and why, she had some amazing contacts in my industry and is connected with some amazing folks. We seemed to connect. She sent me a contact of a friend who was looking for a position, and when he called, we also seemed to connect - and he not only knew about my industry, but also knew specific people, and customers (all on the coastal states) that we have been working with over the last two years. We were also at the same boatshow two years ago. Now, ordinarily, that wouldn't be so extraordinary except that we both live in Austin - a very landlocked city, and my industry is in marine and very coastal in nature.

To make the connection even more personal, when my agent came to take photos of my house for the listing, she saw some of my paintings (that I do simply as a creative expression for myself and have never sold one). She said my paintings resonated with her and bought one on the spot. My first and only sale since I don't paint for profit, but rather for my soul and balance.

So synchronicity? Soul connection? Confirmation that I'm on my destined path? I'm not sure, but I enjoyed the unfolding of recent events...and yes, I definitely believe in the mystery of LIFE. Where the next year will take me is like a breath - each experience - newly inhaled, held for a time to nourish my soul, then letting it flow to nourish another. Breath to Breath, the journey continues.

Dare to be different...

Posted on Apr 10th, 2007 by Meghan : Sea Gypsy Light Dancer Meghan
Steve Jobs' entrepreneurial philosophy resonates with me in so many ways...this is one of my favorite quotes and echoes the heartbeat of this community:

Think Differently

Here's to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing that you can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that's never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can
change the world, are the ones who do.

Butterfly Dances...

Posted on Apr 19th, 2007 by Meghan : Sea Gypsy Light Dancer Meghan

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.”

My sister’s birthday was astounding…we shared the day at Hamilton Pool…and I spent the afternoon communing with a butterfly who came to me and touched my soul. AMAZING! How it fluttered to me, walked onto my hand as I sat at the water’s edge and kissed my fingertips with its long tongue. FOR 2 HOURS it stayed with me!!!

Magic happens in stillness-- simple and pure.

Mother Nature: my teacher, my church. And soon the wind will dance me to the ocean and beyond to find my destiny and continue my journey.

Life is indeed, GOOD.

Are you "green"? And how so?

Posted on Apr 24th, 2007 by Meghan : Sea Gypsy Light Dancer Meghan
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 24, 2007:

Taking Green steps wherever I can…but always needing to do more. I started my company almost 5 years ago and wanted to keep an environmentally friendly mission in the forefront of who we are, so the company became “Orca Green Marine (OGM). We make LED lighting for the marine industry, so our product is low in power and long lasting/durable, which helps keep our products in use and out of the landfill longer. We’re looking to partner with more alternative energy sources to further decrease our customers dependance on “the grid” and use less fossil fuels.

As company production increases, we continue to recycle where we can from the traditional stuff like paper, cardboard, plastics, cans etc…but also our production materials like wire and lenses by donating them to children’s project centers or others who can repurpose the materials. We bike to the bank and walk to lunch whenever possible and any other little thing we can do to simply make things a little better for our earth---and ourselves. Everyone in the company is very conscious of our environment and continually come up with some great ideas …and we hope to find more ways to make our company and our lives a little greener in the future. Always looking for more suggestions too.

Peacelovehappinessand_fair_winds
I had an interesting dream last night - which actually is very telling considering  how the week has evolved. In my dream I was on a train and was moving full steam ahead and I was pretty excited about the trip. As we approached a bridge (a very sturdy, wide, clean new bridge), I looked down at the wide wide river we were passing over. It was dusk, but the river was crystal clear and I could see the bottom and could see it winding at either side of the bridge. Beautiful and so clear. Then I looked ahead and noticed we were about to head into the thick of a forested road - and it was pitch black. At first, I was frightened as we barrelled toward the dark. Then it enveloped me - complete darkness! My eyes got wide...really wide like saucers and I could start seeing more light coming in and soon I wasn't frightened anymore and knew it was all going to work out as it should, so I sat back and enjoyed the ride through the forest - on this train headed for who knew where - my destiny.

And I smiled, that secret smile that only a sea soul can recognize.
